Bridges were collected during 2001 County road centerline GPS collection effort (did not include City of Billings area). Shapefiles were downloaded daily.

Shapefiles were standardized, coverted to coverages and appended together into a single point coverage for the entire county which was then projected into State Plane NAD 83 meters. (Intermediate coverages were deleted.)
August 2001
Point locations were verified against Public Works hardcopy map book in conjunction with aerial photographgy. Duplicate points per bridge were deleted. Points were added as needed (mainly in the City of Billings area because County GPS collection effort didn't include). These points are attributed in the NOTES field by 'scr' for screen digitized (located using aerial photography and road centerline data). Some points were moved slightly to vertically align with road centerline and aerial photography.
Attribute of PWID was added to tie bridge point to Public Works data. The attribute was populated based on hardcopy map book in conjunction with a spreadsheet provided by Tara Jensen (from Public Works shop office). In some cases there was not a matching record on either the map or spreadsheet. In this case the PWID is populated with 'none'.
